What are some solutions for street racing? ›

Illegal street racing is extremely dangerous, especially for the drivers involved. While the thrill of speed and competition might be enough to draw in adrenaline junkies, the dangers associated with street racing can lead to catastrophic injuries and other severe consequences for those behind the wheel.

Experiment With the Track

Normally when you go on a street circuit, the track is new to every driver. Experimenting on the racetrack, trying different racing lines, different turn-in points, different braking zones, different throttle-application spots, will give you a huge advantage over your competitors.

Legal Consequences

Under New York law, street race participation is considered to be a Class A misdemeanor. It can result in steep administrative fines, a tarnished driving record, license revocation, and even jail time.

Under California Vehicle Code Section 23109, a conviction on a first offense will result in fines and 2 points on your license along with some community service. Although a 90 day jail sentence is possible if there's an injury as a result of street racing, a conviction will result in mandatory 30 days in jail.

Decreased reaction time to avoid vehicles or pedestrians. An inability to safely turn or to retain control through curves. Increased risk of skidding off roads. Increased rollover risk.

Mix up your training days by creating challenges for you and your riding buddies. Find markers along the road, like a speed limit sign or a city limit sign, and sprint to it (safely, of course)! Create a hill climbing challenge on a steep, sustained pitch. Go for the fastest time on a segment of road you usually dread.

If the lead driver manages to create a noticeable gap (also called pulling a gap) between their car and the chase driver by the finish line, he is determined the winner of the match.

As per NHRA rules: Drivers of all 8.59 or quicker vehicles must wear a helmet meeting SNELL or SFI specifications. Full Face helmet is mandatory on vehicles 6.39 or quicker. Vehicles slower than 6.39 can wear any DOT approved helmet.

What is the sentence for street racing? ›

Generally, street or drag racing is a misdemeanor and carries up to a year in jail, a maximum $1,000 or so in fines, and possibly community service. The laws of some state laws contain mandatory minimums for jail time or community service. An offender will also generally face license-related penalties.

A first offense is a Class B misdemeanor, carrying penalties of up to 180 days in jail and up to $2,000 in fines. Penalties increase for subsequent offenses or aggravated conditions related to the arrest.
