Let's talk about the modern-day Shakespeare of our era: TikTok acronyms. During a recent presentation, I found myself lost in a flurry of these little buggers. Reminded me of the great Robin Williams "If the VP is such a VIP..." In the spirit of keeping things as clear as the 405 in rush hour, here’s a cheat sheet for you: BMS – "Broke My Scale." When someone is so attractive, they break the 1-10 scale. Basically, they're "off the charts." FYP – "For You Page." Where TikTok's algorithm shows you videos based on your interests. It's like the universe saying, "Hey, you might like this!" For the parents out there, so you don’t feel like you're reading hieroglyphics: GRWM – "Get Ready With Me." Watch as people pick out clothes and sip their morning coffee. Riveting, right? IYKYK – "If You Know You Know." It's the secret handshake of acronyms. Only the initiated will get the reference. MFW – "My Face When." Typically followed by an expressive reaction that speaks volumes. NSFW – "Not Safe For Work." If your boss caught you watching this, you'd probably get that awkward "we need to talk" email. OOMF – "One of My Followers." A subtle way to mention a follower without directly calling them out. OOTD – "Outfit Of The Day." Fashionistas showing off their daily ensembles. Who needs a runway? TFW – "That Feeling When." Describing a universal feeling we all know too well. So next time someone throws a bunch of acronyms at you, channel your inner Robin Williams, ask what they mean, and remember: keep it simple, keep it fun, and always laugh at the confusion.
