Had a fantastic time leading the Wild Boar day for the Mammal Society, a few weeks back! The day started with an presentation about boar ecology, habitat, biology, tracks and signs 🐗🐾We then ventured out into the woodlands, in search of boar tracks and signs 🐾Signs of rooting, tracks, wallowing, rubbing, notching and hair were all found. I also showed participants the difference between wild boar tracks and deer tracks 🦌A brilliant day, with some participants even seeing boar after then session had ended!🐗🐾🌳

Absolutely loved leading my first guided walk, for Staffordshire County Council, on Cannock Chase! Excellent views of cuckoo and common lizard 🦎 Fantastic feedback, with some participants already booking onto future walks! 💪🌳My line manager had the faith to trust me to lead these walks, organise them, advertise and so forth. Both my line manager and myself are over the moon with how well they have turned out!! 🦌🐾

Last year I was made redundant. I didn't know what to do, as I loved the role I was in! After trying out a few very different roles, I still wasn't happy. Then a job came up working for Staffordshire County Council, as their visitor engagement officer, at Cannock Chase. I'm so glad I got the job. I've been there since November 2023 and I love it. I've done so much, both inside and outside the visitor centre. The centre has been transformed, into a place where you can sit and enjoy a cuppa, to finding new walking routes or what wildlife has been spotted. I've also started volunteering again, with the Cannock Chase team. My first day volunteering saw me pulling 20ft birch trees to the chipper, to help with heathland restoration. I think I have found what I enjoy and its great 🌲🐾

If any of my LinkedIn friends are interested. I run a little group called Tracker Al, where we run events and talks etc about wildlife tracking 🐾🦌Wildlife Tracking has been a hobby and a passion of mine for quite some time. It gives me great comfort in going into the woods, or exploring urban areas in search of animal tracks and signs. One of my presentations is coming up and it would be great if any of you like minded folk would share it or even attend! It's all about large mammal and medium sized mammal tracks and signs. Like beaver, pine marten, wild boar and more 🦌🦡🐗If you attend, you'll also find out who left the scat below! ☺️💩Hope to see you there! A few weeks ago I ran the wild boar workshop, for the Mammal Society! All participants seemed to enjoy it, which always fills me with joy! I love talking about my passion for mammals, especially wild boar 🐗 🐾🌳
